A very tall, stately, symmetrical tree with uniformly spaced branch whorls. This is one of the important big 5 timber trees of California's Sierra Nevada, along with the Ponderosa Pine, Sugar Pine, Incense Cedar and Douglas Fir. It's blue-green needles make a popular Christmas Tree.

Native to the foothills and mountains of the Sierra Nevada, but can survive in warm areas. Incense Cedars, also known as Red Cedars, grow to 90 ft. and have a reddish brown trunk. They give off a strong fragrance in warm weather. Also widely seen in the Yosemite National Park.
